A major component of the exhibition dealt with technical studies that revealed changes Renoir made while working on the painting. The text panels (example above) displayed X-radiograph, infrared, and paint layer analysis images side-by-side with details of the painting to demonstrate the changes. The infrared image of the painting (above right) was enlarged to full size along with the x-ray (not shown).
